Lift Your Eyes
Too often it is easy for me to relate to the psalmist in Psalm 42 and ask myself, "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?" (42:5). Too often my eyes are cast down and I focus inward on my own problems, big or small. Have you ever felt that way?
In Psalm 121, we can join with the psalmist and be reminded to lift our eyes up - from our troubles, ilnesses, guilts, grief . . . In lifting our eyes to the hills we are reminded that our "help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth"!
Our help has come - on a hill in fact! On the hill at Golgotha Jesus Christ provided for our salvation through His suffering and death on the cross.
What a relief! Although Jesus ascended into heaven and no longer resides with us here on earth, our God is on guard for us, providing protection. As we go about our daily life, we can approach God in prayer with the confidence that He hears us. When we are tempted to look down, He reminds us to look up to Him and ask for what we need. According to His good and gracious will, He promises to supply for those needs.
Let us lift our eyes and voices to Him in prayer.
What is on your prayer list today?
Prayer:
O Lord, we trust you to guard, protect and care for us in this earthly life.
We look forward to the day we will lift our eyes and see You face to face. Amen.
Levanta tus ojos
Oración:
O Señor, confiamos en Ti para que nos guardes, protejes, y cuides de nosotros en esta vida terrenal. Esperamos el día en que levantaremos nuestros ojos y te veremos cara a cara. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
